How do I remove my old vinyl lettering?
|
|
You will need a couple of household items.
1. Heat gun or hair dryer
2. Plastic scraper
3. Adhesive remover like Goof Off or Goo Gone
4. Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
5. Clean rags
First read and follow all instructions and warning of these products. Adhesive removers and isopropyl alcohol are extremely flammable keep them away from your heat gun. Always test removers and alcohol in an inconspicuous place first before using.
Heat one or two of the vinyl letters as you hold the heat gun 3” to 4” inches away from the letters. Be careful to close, to hot a setting or too much time can damage your finish. Always start at a lower heat setting and shorter time working up till you find the correct combination of time and heat. Now pull up an edge of a hot letter with the plastic scraper or finger nail. This part sounds tricky but it’s really not. Gently pull the vinyl towards you and away in the one motion lifting the letter off the surface. When done correctly the adhesive will come off clean with the vinyl letter. After a couple of letters you will get a feel of how much pressure you can apply without snapping the vinyl. If the vinyl is old it will constantly snap off in small pieces, only self control and good patience will get you through this. Once all the vinyl has been removed use adhesive remover and a rag for the remaining adhesive. Finish by wiping the area clean with isopropyl alcohol. Now you are ready to apply your new vinyl lettering.

At what temperatures can I apply my vinyl letters?
|
|
No lower than 40 F and no hotter than 100 F
For low temperatures you can try heating the surface first before applying the letters.
In the summer heat always try to work in the shade. It is possible to cool the lettering surface first with water before you apply the vinyl letters.

My studs will not fit into the drilled holes.
|
|
If you are having trouble with the alignment of studs to there drilled holes stop and check the letter numbering to the pattern. If you are still having trouble you may need to correct the angle of one or more of your drilled holes. Do not force or bend any letter into place.
|
|
What is the difference between a spacing tape and a drill pattern ?
|
|
Spacing tapes are used to roughly show proper spacing for pad mounting letters. A drill pattern will have proper spacing and exact hole locations for each of the studs on marked on Kraft paper to provide a guide for drilling. Please note that each pattern is specifically made for each individual letter. If you have more than one of the same letter in the same size and color they are not interchangeable. We will numbered the backside of letter and it‘s location on the pattern. If you are having trouble with the alignment of studs to there drilled holes stop and check the letter numbering to the pattern. If you are still having trouble you may need to correct the angle of one or more of your holes.

How long should my new flag last?
|
|
Experience has proven that it is an impossible question to answer accurately. It is like predicting the weather, airborne contamination, and the treatment people will give a flag. The major enemies of a flag are wind, water, sun and carelessness. No one can control the weather, but you can take care of your flag and lengthen its flag life.
Occasional washing in warm mild-detergent water will prevent dirt and pollutants from attacking the fabric. To prevent mildew, let your flag dry thoroughly before storing it. Have your flag replaced at the first sign of fraying. Don't wait for it to be blown to shreds. Continuous day and night display will shorten a flag's life. If your flag is not illuminated at night, you should consider taking it down to appreciably lengthen its life. Quality flags are manufactured to give maximum service in return for reasonable care and prudent use.
Remember, no two flags receive identical wear. Because weather and wearing conditions vary, the life span of each flag will differ. Your flag works hard. It shakes...it trembles...it drapes...it whips...it snaps...it chafes...it bakes...it freezes...it ripples...it flutters...it quivers...it furls...it rolls...it twists...it flaps...it strains...it flies...it unfurls...it hangs! Is it any wonder that it needs to be replaced two or three times a year? The best way we know to strech your "flag dollar" is to have three flags: one for flying, one in the wash, and a clean one in reserve for special occasions

When should I flay my flag at half-staff
|
|
Flying the Flag at Half-Staff
The Flag Code sets out detailed instructions on flying the flag at half-staff on
Memorial Day and as a mark of respect to the memory of certain recently deceased
public officials.33 This section embodies the substance of Presidential Proclamation
No. 3044,34 entitled “Display of Flag at Half-Staff Upon Death of Certain Officials
and Former Officials.”
The section provides that the President shall order the flag flown at half-staff for
stipulated periods “upon the death of principal figures of the United States
Government and the Governor of a state, territory, or possession.” After the death
of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag may be flown at half-staff according
to Presidential instructions or in accordance with recognized custom not inconsistent
with law. In addition, the Governor of a state, territory, or possession, or the Mayor
CRS-11
35 In 2007, P.L. 110-41, added the Mayor of the District of Columbia to this provision and
authorized the Governors and the Mayor to issue proclamations to lower the flag to halfstaff
in honor of members of the Armed Forces from their jurisdiction.
36 34 Op. Atty. Gen. 483.
of the District of Columbia, may direct that the national flag be flown at half-staff,
in the event of the death of a present or former official of the respective government
or in the event of the death of a member of the Armed Forces from that jurisdiction.35
Presidents also have ordered the flag to be flown at half-staff on the death of
leading citizens, not covered by law, as a mark of official tribute to their service to
the United States. Martin Luther King, Jr. is among those who have been so
honored.
Again, the provisions of the Flag Code on flying the flag at half-staff are, like
all the Code’s provisions, a guide only. They do not apply, as a matter of law, to the
display of the flag at half-staff by private individuals and organizations. No federal
restrictions or court decisions are known that limit such an individual’s lowering his
own flag or that make such display alone a form of desecration.
